Uponor Siccus Mini radiant underfloor heating system

When every millimeter, renovation day, and dust particle counts

When every millimeter, renovation day, and dust particle counts

The Uponor Siccus Mini radiant heating system from GF Building Flow Solutions is an underfloor heating solution, that features both, a very low construction-height, and a fast installation time. As a dry installation system, installation efforts are significantly reduced and involve less dirt and hassles for the residents. With its impressively low construction height of just 15 millimeters, it is the perfect solution for renovation, where often every millimeter of flooring height counts. The system can be laid on an existing stable and even flooring–another benefit since this eliminates the complete dismantling of the existing flooring. This saves time and prevents from impairments due to dirt. Flexible: the Siccus Mini radiant heating system can be used with parquet and laminate as top flooring (direct installation without screed) as well as with tiles, natural stone, and soft floor coverings such as carpet and vinyl (with additional load distribution layers). As a radiant underfloor heating system, it provides pleasant feel-good temperatures at any time of year. As the Siccus Mini radiant heating system operates with low temperatures, it is the perfect match for heat pumps and contributes to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Renovation of existing buildings: often a question of millimeters

Uponor Siccus Mini underfloor heating system from GF Building Flow Solutions (former Uponor) offers multiple benefits particularly for renovation projects. Installers can fit it on their own without any interruptions, as there is no need for coordination with service providers from other trades. Following installation, the new flooring can be laid immediately, without having to factor in any screed drying time. A key feature of the dry installation system homeowners and residents benefit from. Using an underfloor radiant heating system for renovations in existing buildings leads to a major adaptation of the floor structure and changes the floor’s construction height. Dry installation systems are lighter than wet systems, an essential factor in the structural analysis of some projects. The Siccus Mini’s low construction height of just 15 millimeters is a big advantage for modernization projects: if the height of the floor structure changes, this also affects the height of windows, doorways, door handles, light switches, sockets, and all other fixtures in the room. Minor changes caused by ultra-thin underfloor heating systems like Siccus Mini can be effortlessly accommodated, while substantial modifications would necessitate additional adjustments or even be unfeasible. Siccus Mini enables direct installation without screed for parquet and laminate flooring; additional load distribution layers are used for tiles and natural stone as well as soft floor coverings such as carpet and vinyl.

Comfort and design start at the floor

The way underfloor heating systems operate is highly convenient. The Siccus Mini radiant heating system provides pleasant feel-good temperatures at any time of year. Due to the proximity to the top surface the system achieves desired comfort temperatures inside the room much faster: it delivers a desired heating capacity of 90 percent in 50 minutes. Underfloor heating is a radiant heat that emits the temperature evenly into the room. This results in less feeling of draughts in a room compared to a conventional radiator or ventilation system. Furthermore, both, planers and building owners benefit from a greater freedom to design the room: the heating solution is completely integrated into the floor and the interior design does not need to be adapted to the heating concept realized with conventional radiators. They not only use up space at the walls but also regularly need maintenance for sufficient operation.

Underfloor heating systems: lower flow temperatures require less energy

Underfloor radiant heating solutions such as Siccus Mini help tackle climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The EU has set itself the target of being climate neutral by 2050 and achieving a 55 percent reduction in emissions by 2030 compared with the figure for 1990.1This also affects the building sector, which is responsible for around 36 percent of emissions in the EU.2 One possible strategy is installing underfloor heating systems, which consume less energy thanks to their lower flow temperatures and their use of the radiant heating principle. Cutting-edge solutions offer excellent potential for a much better energy footprint, especially in old buildings. Equipping these buildings with low-temperature underfloor heating systems and an individual room control function can cut emissions by up to 39 percent.3 Heat pumps are recommended as a sustainable source of energy. Siccus Mini is perfectly applicable for combination with heat pumps due to its low temperature operation.

Siccus Mini recognized as “One of the 100 Best Ideas of This Year”

After its launch in 2023, the innovative radiant heating solution Siccus Mini has already been awarded with the recognition as “One of the 100 Best Ideas of the Year”. The award is presented by the Spanish magazine Actualidad Económica, the economic magazine of the Spanish newspaper EL MUNDO. The 100 Best Ideas are a recognition of the most innovative initiatives in each sector, which accelerate the growth of companies and also promote job creation. The awards are a mirror of the progress of R&D&I in Spain, where innovation drives digital, sustainability, and health-related issues.

Uponor produces world’s first circular PEX pipe based on 100% chemically recycled raw material

Uponor, Wastewise, Neste and Borealis have successfully produced pipes made of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) which was based on feedstock gained from chemically recycled post-industrial waste plastic from PEX pipe production, using an ISCC PLUS certified mass-balancing approach. The partner companies believe this project is among the first implementations of chemical recycling of PEX.
