Modern living will have modern way of taking charge of surface waterFor those who will not leave the nearness to the town and will be closer to the nature, the future living is now built in Kärra, Borås. The establishment of a new residential area means new system for surface and waste water, electricity and telecom and drainage as well. The Service office in Borås town is in charge of the construction work and HusArvid will build the houses. Uponor is a part of the safe ground.
Background
In the outside of the district Brämhult in Borås, on the borderline between the built-up area and the countryside, the new area Kärra comes up in harmony with the environment. In the coming year 66 houses will be built and the work which has been initiated by Borås town and HusArvid is in full swing. In August 2009 the work started with preparing the ground. First eight bought-in farm properties had to be torn down, but then the excavation has been able to be driven through rocks and over open landscapes. In April 2010 the first houses will be built. A new area means that all infrastructures for water, drainage, electricity and telecom need to be new installed. Borås town and the Service office are responsible for the construction work and Ulf Raneby, one of the projectors, says that after the pretty widespread rock parts of the preparatory stage, there are mostly meadows. Just to dig on. And it will be very much digging for the Service office in this project.
“It will be more stable so. And easier to handle when installing.”After that we had won the work – much thanks to good reference jobs among others in Sjöhagen – a very competitive deal, it has now grown from road network and infrastructure to prepare the gardens for the contractor.
Solution
LOD is a very important abbreviation for those who plan water and drainage to a new area 2009. LOD stands for “local taking charge of surface water”. In Kärra it means that at first the private sites will take care of its surface water by Uponor’s surface water magazines. Each site will have four magazines. Secondly if there will be heavy floods the water goes to the municipal system and to a pond outside the area. For Borås town this LOD-choice, with separate surface water magazines on each site, is a pioneer project. As Kärra is new, a complete system for the infrastructure must be built. Drainage, surface water, drinking water and wells. At the same time pipes for electricity and telecom must be let down. It will be up to twelve cables in one pipe.
Result
After having hit more rocks than calculated, the project is now been caught up and will keep the time table. “This is a new project in many ways. Not at least that now we have an expressed regulation in LOD and how the water will be treated. Earlier we should just connect with the municipality ones”, says Ulf Raneby on the Service office, Borås town. He points out that you have made the choice to go away from 6 m pipes and instead concentrate on 3 m pipes. “It will be more stable. And easier to handle when installing”. The job is going on and soon stage two from November 2009 to April 2010 will be started. Then a complete modern water and drainage system is available and all cables needed for electricity and telecom. Uponor is one of the basic parts when the future living between town and countryside is built on Kärra in Borås.
