Akademiska Hus gain constructions rights more effectively with Uponor Infra utility tunnel

Akademiska Hus planned to build approximately 300 apartments in Lund with the Cassiopeia campus facility. As the infrastructure did not fit in the existing street, it was solved with an Uponor Infra Utility Tunnel.

An infra utility tunnel of just over 90 meters and with a diameter of 2200 mm is in place and connected. Uponor Infra not only supplied the prefabricated culvert with all media pipes in place, but also assisted with dimensioning, construction drawings and welding.

For Akademiska Hus, the Uponor Infra utility tunnel solution means that they can use their building rights to a greater extent. The tunnel also provides access over time to be able to inspect and carry out maintenance work, says Jimmy Olsson, sales reps. Uponor Infra Project Services.

Tailored renovation solution

The Vierimaantie road, located close to the town centre of Ylivieska, Finland has a concrete sewer line constructed in the 1960s and 1970s. A decision was taken to renovate this sewer using a tailored solution, and the product developed for this purpose is now also available to other customers.

Old water intake plant upgraded to modern version

The Hietasärkä water intake plant is part of the Suomussalmi water supply system, the task of which is to ensure the sufficiency of clean drinking water for the needs of municipal residents. Corrosion damage to the water supply network was previously prevented with lye, but due to safety risks, it was replaced by a chemical-free method. At the same time, an extensive overall renovation was carried out at the water intake plant.

Weholite limits overflows and pollution in London

Uponor’s Weholite technology was the key solution in a unique project in London, where the Lee Tunnel and Thames Tideway tunnel have the task of capturing an average of 39 million tonnes of sewage a year from the 35 most polluting combined sewer overflows (CSOs). An upgraded pipeline system was designed to reduce the number of overflows – and their environmental impact – from the sewers and treatment systems serving London. A particular aim is to limit pollution from the sewers and treatment systems connected to the Beckton and Crossness sewage treatment works.

Fighting against an ecological disaster in a world-record time
