Renovating and expanding with technology from Uponor

The Zugspitz Resort in Ehrwald, Austria, just southwest of the Zugspitze – the highest peak of the Wetterstein chain – offers three types of holiday accommodation: 4-star hotel, holiday apartment and campsite - each on an outstanding level, surrounded by a fascinating natural landscape and an impressive infrastructure. The offer in and around the family-friendly holiday resort includes a spacious active & vitality world, a modern children's park, an indoor and outdoor pool, an idyllic 9-hole golf course and two cable cars to the surrounding mountain peaks and ski areas.

Underfloor heating and chilled ceilings ensure comfort and sustainability

For the facility owners, one of key objectives of their extensive renovation and refurbishing work has been: underfloor heating and cooling ceilings that ensure snugly comfortable and efficient heating and cooling. The engineering office A3 JP Haustechnik from Innsbruck, which is very experienced in the hotel sector, was responsible for the planning. On-site work kicked off in March 2019, and the resort reopened for business in December that same year.

Feel-good climate through modern temperature control technology

Project centrepieces include construction of 47 new rooms and suites in the facility’s new building as well as 20 additional bathrooms in the main building for the comfort of the camp-ground guests. Both basement floors, which house the play area and the fitness and yoga rooms, the ground floor including the reception, hotel lobby, lounge, restaurant and buffet, and all bathrooms now have underfloor heating – a total of 4,080 square meters of surface heating Uponor Classic. The new suites - under the future infinity pool - are also equipped with cooling ceilings: Around 350 square meters are installed here Uponor Thermatop M. Summer and winter guests can rely on: perfectly climatised interiors at the Zugspitz Resort!
