Uponor achieves Ecovadis gold level rating

Uponor has been awarded the Gold level rating by the global sustainability rating platform EcoVadis. The total score improved to 70 out of 100 (62 /100 in 2022: Silver level rating) putting Uponor among the top 6% of the 5000 companies in the plastic products manufacturing sector evaluated by EcoVadis globally.

There’s no doubt of the importance of sustainability in the construction industry. In the Nordics especially, we are seeing many home and office building initiatives that favour a lower carbon footprint. Indeed, the requirements nowadays are becoming so strict that it is often mandatory to present proof of the carbon footprint reduction that will be made in the product. This proof comes in the form of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). But what exactly are EPDs, and what do their use mean?

The construction of a new community centre in Nastola, Southern Finland was proceeding at a rapid pace. Its new tenants were able to move into the building in early autumn 2021. The installation of the plot’s stormwater system was carried out at a rate that surprised everyone involved in the work. In fact, the site’s new Uponor IQ infiltration and retention pipes were in place within a few days.

In an ongoing  pilot project, pollutants carried by stormwater run-offs will be captured in a massive, tailor-made Uponor Vault, a stormwater treatment chamber to ensure that the stormwater is purified before it reaches the Ljura Stream and finally the sea.

Uponor first in its industry to receive approval for its net zero target by the Science Based Targets initiative

Uponor, a leading global provider of sustainable water solutions for buildings and infrastructure, announces that its new, even more ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets were approved on 20 April 2023 by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The initiative also approved Uponor’s target of reaching Net Zero emissions by 2040. The approval means that SBTi’s independent experts have reviewed and validated the targets to be in line with the Paris agreement and latest climate science.
