With over three decades of experience in the industry, Guglielmo’s journey from mechanical engineer to founder of Fineline Plumbing & Heating reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and innovation that continues to inspire.  

Guglielmo’s fascination with heating systems, particularly hot-water heating, radiators, and radiant floor heating, sparked during his college years. Rather than confining himself to a desk job post-graduation, he ventured into the dynamic world of design and construction. “I found the heating industry very interesting," he reflects. "It caught my attention, and I ran with it.” 

Establishing Fineline Plumbing & Heating in 1994 marked the beginning of Guglielmo’s venture into residential service and new construction. Specializing in radiant heating, with plumbing comprising the remaining portion of his business, Guglielmo’s dedication to quality and customer satisfaction quickly earned him a stellar reputation, primarily through word-of-mouth referrals. 

As energy prices surged, so did public awareness of the importance of efficient heating systems. Guglielmo’s steadfast focus on residential markets allowed him to forge lasting relationships with clients who valued not only his expertise but also the personalized attention he provided. “People really appreciate the product. It becomes a long-term relationship,” he shares. “I have homes that I’ve serviced for 30 years. I’ve watched children grow and grandchildren born.” 

In recent years, as Guglielmo prepared for retirement, an unexpected opportunity emerged. Cody DeTorres, a friend’s son, expressed a keen interest in apprenticing under him to obtain his master plumbing license in New Jersey. Guglielmo welcomed DeTorres with open arms, recognizing his passion and potential to carry on the tradition of excellence in the industry. 

DeTorres’ journey reflects a convergence of passion and persistence. Despite initial detours, including a stint in journalism, his love for plumbing eventually led him to Guglielmo’s doorstep. “I have a huge love for this trade,” DeTorres expresses. “I don’t look at it as a job — I don’t even feel like I’m going to work half the time.”

Working with hydronic systems is a true testament to the satisfaction he experiences from his work. He recalled the intense monotony he experienced when working with traditional plumbing systems. With radiant systems, he enjoys seeing design challenges emerge into comfortable, highly efficient solutions that truly deliver to his clients’ needs. 

Under Guglielmo’s mentorship, DeTorres is honing his skills in hydronic heating, embracing the intricacies of system design and installation. Their latest project — a radiant heating system for a sprawling log cabin — underscores the blend of artistry and technical expertise that defines their craft. 

Situated on the outskirts of Easton, Penn., this 9,200-square-foot luxury home epitomizes comfort and sophistication. Boasting a myriad of amenities, from a bar/lounge to a home theater, the residence demanded a heating solution that matched its grandeur. 

Guglielmo and DeTorres rose to the challenge, navigating the complexities of integrating radiant heating into the log cabin’s design. Despite logistical hurdles and spatial constraints within the mechanical room, their meticulous planning and choice of premium products, including Uponor ½ in.
