The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly known as Proposition 65, was created to inform people of that state that they may be exposed to trace amounts of certain chemicals in the products they use/consume, and requires manufacturers to apply a warning statement to their products if the exposure levels exceed established maximum levels. Since the maximum levels of exposure are typically set extremely low in California, a wide range of products are required to carry a warning, including food, cosmetics, household goods, building products, etc.

To comply with Proposition 65, however, Uponor is incorporating warnings on the labels of the packaging of a limited number of Uponor products affected by this regulation. Even though some Uponor products may contain trace amounts of chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, all Uponor products meet or exceed industry standards in both the U.S. and Canada. We are confident that our products do not pose a health hazard.

Products that require a warning include this statement on their packaging labels.

The proposition is intended for residents of California and does not apply to other states or countries. However, to ensure products that may eventually be sold in California are in compliance with Proposition 65, it is necessary to affix a warning on the packaging labels of all affected products regardless of initial shipping destination.
