This American National Standard establishes minimum health-effects requirements for the chemical contaminants and impurities that are indirectly imparted to drinking water from products, components, and materials used in drinking water systems. 

This standard measures and describes the properties of materials, products, or assemblies in response to heat and flame under controlled laboratory conditions. Testing results provide fire risk assessments that consider all the factors pertinent to an assessment of the fire hazard of a particular end use. 

This standard covers requirements for solvent cements used to make CPVC connections. It states the solvent cement shall be a CPVC resin-based solution, shall be free-flowing, shall show no gelation or stratification, and shall not contain lumps or any foreign matter. Other requirements include resin content, dissolution, viscosity, shelf stability, hydrostatic burst strength, and hydrostatic sustained pressure strength. 

This standard covers CPVC pipes manufactured in Schedule 40 and 80 sizes and pressure-rated for water. These pipes are intended for use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, which are chemically compatible with the piping materials. The standard includes criteria for classifying CPVC plastic pipe materials and CPVC plastic pipes along with requirements and test methods for materials, workmanship, dimensions, sustained pressure, burst pressure, accelerated regression, flattening resistance, and extrusion quality. 

This standard covers special engineered fittings, appurtenances, or valves for use in PVC or CPVC piping systems. The standard includes seal dimensions requirements and tolerances for solvent-weld, threaded, flange, and spigot connections. It also includes requirements for bolt patterns, average outside diameter, out-of-plane roundness, and minimum wall thickness of the corresponding pipe.
